Bali and Lombok: planning a two-island holiday

Combine Bali and southwest Lombok without rushing. Plan transfer days, choose a base and leave space between travel and activities.

A Bali and Lombok holiday can give you two different chapters in one trip. The practical challenge is deciding how much of that trip you want to spend changing hotels and travelling between islands. Start with the experience you want, then choose the route that leaves enough time to enjoy it.

Sundancer is in Sekotong, southwest Lombok. It is useful to name that destination when arranging transport: arriving on Lombok is only one part of reaching your accommodation.

Count nights, not just destinations

Put every overnight stop on a calendar. Then mark the days used for transfers, unpacking and getting ready to leave. If the result leaves only one full day in each place, consider removing a stop.

A simple outline might be several nights in Bali followed by several nights in Sekotong, with a clear travel day between them. This is a planning example, not a fixed package. The balance depends on your flights, interests and how much movement your group enjoys.

Keep the final night before an important flight somewhere that gives you a realistic connection. Ask the transport provider what buffer is appropriate for your chosen route; do not rely on a best-case journey time from an old itinerary.

Compare the whole transfer

When considering air or sea travel, compare more than the ticket price. Confirm the exact departure and arrival points, baggage allowance, check-in requirement and onward ground transfer. Services and operating conditions can change, so check directly with the provider for your dates.

  • Where will you be collected in Bali?
  • Which airport or harbour will you arrive at on Lombok?
  • Is onward transport included or separate?
  • What happens if a service is delayed or cancelled?
  • Can the vehicle carry your group and all its luggage?

The Sundancer transfer page helps you plan the Lombok part. Give the team the precise arrival point rather than simply asking for a pickup “from the boat”.

Give each island a purpose

You do not need to repeat the same holiday twice. If your Bali plans are busy, use Sekotong for fewer scheduled activities and longer mornings. If you want a dedicated diving day, reserve room for it in the Lombok portion rather than fitting it between two transfers.

The High Dive is based on Gili Gede in southwest Lombok, as shown on its official website. Sundancer’s diving page explains the resort’s arrangements and contracted prices. Use those rates when enquiring through Sundancer.

Keep arrival day easy

A journey that looks short on a map can still fill much of a day once check-in and connections are included. Plan to arrive, eat and settle in. Save your first excursion for a later morning.

When you send your stay enquiry, include the Bali address or area you will leave from, any tickets already booked and your onward flight details. That makes the conversation practical from the start, while leaving enough flexibility for a holiday that feels like a break.
